Avalon wide receiver Jacquille Veii decommitted from the Terps, according to his Facebook page, just five months after making a pledge.

Here's what Veii wrote:

“During Gods plan thought life , things that cant be explained often happen, and theres reasons for all of these things, but how you deal with them is how you learn and build on them…with that said i’m de-committed from the university of maryland and re opening my recruitment.”

Avalon coach Tad Shields reaffirmed his receiver's oral commitment to the Terps two weeks ago, but stated he had other offers on the table as well.

Maybe Veii is afraid of a torn ACL; but of course, winning games attracts local recruits. Failing to make a bowl game certainly deters them.
