Freshmen offensive standouts Stefon Diggs and Wes Brown are both expected to miss Saturday's contest against No. 10 Clemson this week, as both are nursing ankle injuries sustained during last week's 33-13 loss to Georgia Tech.
Diggs and Brown will join a very talented sideline crew, including four quarterbacks — C.J. Brown, Perry Hills, Caleb Rowe and Devin Burns — and top tackler Demetrius Hartsfield.
Diggs, who found the end zone twice against the Yellow Jackets last week, has averaged 96 yards receiving in the past six games. He is averaging 175 all-purpose yards this season, which is good for seventh in the nation. Four times Diggs has been named the ACC's Rookie of the Week.
Brown had emerged as the Terps' top rusher. He leads the team with 90 attempts for 399 yards and two touchdowns. Against N.C. State, he became Maryland's first back to surpass the century mark. It was just the 13th time in school history a freshman rushed for 100 yards in a game.
Also out against Clemson is Kerry Boykins, Tyrek Cheeseboro and Marcus Leak, leaving Kevin Dorsey, Nigel King and Levern Jacobs as the only receivers available.
Brandon Ross is expected to start in place of Brown at tailback. Though he is slated as the No. 2 back along with Justus Pickett and Albert Reid, Ross received a team-high 12 carries in Brown's absence last week, totaling 69 yards.Tags: Brandon Ross, Maryland, Maryland Terrapins, NCAA, Stefon Diggs, Terps, Wes Brown
