Justus Pickett, the sophomore running back who at one point in the season emerged as the team's featured running back, has left the university to return home to North Carolina due to an undisclosed family matter.
Pickett started four games at tailback, but eventually lost his job to freshmen Wes Brown and Brandon Ross as the season progressed.
After emerging as a complementary back to Davin Meggett in 2011, Pickett finished this season with 183 yards and tied with Perry Hills for a team-high three rushing scores.
Makinton Dorleant, a redshirt freshman out of Naples, Fla., served as a reserve defensive back this year.
On Sunday, Dorleant tweeted he was heading to the University of Northern Iowa.

For the most part, Dorleant was limited to special teams duties. He played in all 12 games, racking up four total tackles.
